Job Title: Head of Employer Partnerships 

Reports to: Deputy CEO (but the role will also work in close collaboration with both the CEO and the Director of Programmes).

Location: Open to national flexibility on location. May occasionally need to attend our London office - Quantum House, 22 – 24 Red Lion Court, Fleet Street, EC4A 3AB.

Purpose: This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic professional to take the lead role in engaging employers, corporate funders, and professional networks and securing funded partnerships with them. This will provide essential income for the charity’s work with schools. It will also help the recruitment of skilled, diverse volunteers to support delivery of the charity’s innovative programmes for children and young people.

The postholder will work closely with our established employer networks and develop new networks; give leadership to a small team currently managing our partnerships and business development; and work collaboratively with an involved senior leadership team and further supportive colleagues right across the charity to achieve our aims.

Remuneration: £36k - £41k - depending upon experience. Pro rata depending on agreed full time equivalent hours of appointment (see below)

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will be responsible for charity-wide strategic partnership engagement and management. The focus will be on developing new relationships with corporate partners, employers, and other organisations that help fund and grow the reach of our charitable work, establishing a strong and supportive network of employers.

To be successful, candidates should have experience of developing and securing funded corporate partnerships. This experience could be in the charity sector or within a different context. You should be able to demonstrate a proven track record in building, developing, generating income from, and owning effective long-term relationships with new and existing partners. You will need to show experience of managing stakeholder relationships at all levels of seniority.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, resilient, and used to managing competing priorities within a varied and exciting workload. They should be flexible, collaborative, and willing to perform varying duties depending on the shifting needs of a small charity with national presence.

We are looking for a strategic individual who can target, drive forward and subsequently deliver successful partnerships with employers and professional associations. The post-holder will understand the personal and professional benefits of volunteering in education and is passionate about supporting young people to realise their potential. Key Accountabilities:

Identifying and securing new employer partnerships:

• Lead on identifying different opportunities to generate income growth for our charity, including ‘charity of the year’ partnerships and developing and promoting a range of attractive strategic opportunities for corporates/ employers looking to sponsor and fund our charity;
• Researching and developing a prospect pipeline, including spending time generating new leads and meeting clients, to support the development of new corporate partners and ensure that CRM information is continuously updated;
• From this pipeline, identify, contact, and pitch to prospective partners about the benefits to them of supporting the charity. Prepare and deliver compelling and evidence-based pitches and presentations including developing assets and proposals, reporting, credentials, and pitch decks to support income generation from employer partnerships;
• Generate awareness and visibility of the Education and Employers’ partnership proposition – e.g. delivering a regular series of virtual and face to face sessions to engage with new organisations and sell the benefits of Education and Employers corporate funded partnerships;
• Ensure these briefing sessions are supported by valued current partners who can outline the benefits they themselves have seen organisationally and at an individual employee level leading to the establishment of new partnerships and income from employers;
• Developing an advocates/trusted partner approach by ensuring we equip our trustees, staff, and close partners with organisational assets to share across their wider connections;
• To explore and engage with Social Value/CSR networks, consultancies, and professional bodies to be their programme/charity of choice to deliver social value programmes on behalf of their clients’/ members’ behalf;
• Stay up to date with trends in charity fundraising from corporate partnerships and review how charities in the wider sector are best succeeding in this area.

 

Establishing, negotiating, and managing new partnerships and further developing existing employer partnerships:

• Negotiating new funding partnerships with clients that are deliverable, cost-effective, and generate money in addition to the cost of managing the partnerships;
• Persistently and professionally following up with clients at different stages of interest, in order to move forward and hopefully convert these partnership discussions into signed contracts/ commitments – i.e. moving discussions along to ‘close the deal’;
• Building strong relationships through a stewardship programme to engage with partners in a variety of ways on a regular basis, in particular with existing partners that are not currently funding partners to transition them to a funded model;
• To work closely with the current Partnerships Manager to effectively handover all successful bids to the Partnership Manager to develop project plans and delivery timelines;
• Design and develop organisational wide project implementation tools and processes to ensure end to end project management supports consistency in delivery, tracking and evidencing impact to successfully achieve strategic priorities and secure new and ongoing funding sources;
• Ensure all contact development activity is recorded on our Customer Relationship Manager system (Salesforce) so that we have clear oversight of our contact history and touchpoints with employers and networks;

 

Team management and working with the SMT and wider charity to develop employer partnerships:

• Supporting with seeking out new funding opportunities and writing bids that support the organisation to meet it strategic aims including regularly reviewing funding and grants websites;
• Work with colleagues across the organisation to support and create engagement opportunities for corporate partners and prospects that align with our strategic plan;
• Work closely with the Communications Manager and Director of Schools Programmes to create innovative ways to engage new corporate partners, via local networks and social media.
• Future line management of the Employer & Business Development Manager;
• To work closely and proactively with SLT, stakeholder partners and trustees to support and enhance our collective work with employers and to ensure a joined up, strategic approach;

 

Other

• Represent Education and Employers and the Senior Management Team at external events and conferences as appropriate;
•  Other ad hoc duties as required.

Person specification:

These are the required Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise required to undertake the role:

Essential

• Demonstrable experience of generating income from researching, establishing, and developing employer and/ or professional organisation partnerships;
• Demonstrable experience of being target driven and experience of meeting either demanding income or delivery KPIs and targets.
• Demonstrable experience of managing the income generation pipeline right from approaching clients, to engaging them, and finally through to contracting with them to secure inward income and deliver their agreed objectives.
• Awareness and understanding of navigating the multiple decision makers and decision-making gates in corporate organisations and professional member organisations;
• Experience of working with internal colleagues to develop achievable, realistic delivery plans for employer funders and execute them via effective programme and project management;
• Demonstrable experience of client management, including establishing initial rapport and building long term sustainable stakeholder relationships by working effectively and collaboratively with staff and partners across multiple geographical locations;
• Excellent people skills, the ability to influence (including with senior representatives) and the manner to professionally represent the Charity with external employers, professional bodies, and with schools and the education community;
• Knowledge and understanding of the role that marketing and internal and external communications campaigns can have in generating mass engagement of users with a programme or campaign at a national level;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong ability to engage and persuade, including the ability to pitch and present to stakeholders in a professional and engaging manner, including online via video conferencing software like Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

HE Partnerships at Unifrog

After successfully launching the HE Partnerships arm of Unifrog in 2020, we now support 175+ universities globally with raising brand awareness, inspiring the next generation, and developing a talented and diverse pipeline of prospective applicants. We also connect universities with teachers, advisors, and international school counselors through the Unifrog online community and in-person events.

Our focus remains on continuing to grow our global university partner numbers and building ever stronger relationships with our current partners. We are constantly exploring how we can develop our UK and international partnership offerings to make sure they are best-supporting universities in their marketing and recruitment aims, while at the same time making sure our student and teacher users have access to the best resources and opportunities possible.

There are three main areas of work:

1. Insights - We provide university partners with aggregated user data from the Unifrog platform to uncover trends at subject and regional levels, with the aim of informing universities’ marketing, recruitment, and portfolio planning.

The role and your key responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for the success of the HE Partnerships team. You’ll set the team’s overall approach, line manage the team, and be responsible for meeting our HE growth and partner retention targets. You’ll need to foster the positive and innovative team environment that we expect at Unifrog.

Here are some of the main responsibilities within this role:

• Work with other people at Unifrog to continually refine how we make sales and better support our partners through our partnership offering. For example, you’ll work with our Data analysis, Marketing, and Events teams to:

  • realise requests from partners for new data insights and reports 

  • identify insights and develop narratives for conference presentations

  • improve the events we run with universities

• Work with the New Business Lead (HE & Employers) to design and oversee the execution of different prospecting campaigns, always considering the audience (university’s location, job role of recipient, university’s priorities) and tailoring each campaign accordingly. 

  • You’ll need to assess which conferences, sponsorship, and other marketing opportunities we should take advantage of.

• Determine the timing and key messaging for communication with our HE partners, and work with our Marketing team to deliver this communication.

• Manage our relationships with HE network organisations (e.g. HELOA). Seek out further opportunities that help position us as thought leaders in the undergraduate recruitment and admissions spaces. 

• Line-manage the HE Partnerships team, for example:

  • Shadow HE Partnerships Managers on demos and review calls, supporting them to keep improving in their role.

  • Oversee successful partner engagement, auditing, and Matching campaign strategies led by our HE Partnerships Coordinator

  • Conduct Performance and Development Reviews with the HE Partnerships team. Support them with their personal development goals. 

• Be the point person for escalating issues related to partners at risk of not resubscribing.

• To help you stay close to the realities in the marketplace, you’ll manage a small number of university accounts, and be directly responsible for their growth and retention. 

Working together

You’ll line manage our four HE Partnership Managers (who are responsible for bringing new university partners on board and building upon the relationships we have with our current partners), our HE Partnerships Coordinator (who is responsible for tracking partner engagement, flagging universities of concern, and supporting better usage of partnership activities such as Matching campaigns), and work closely with other team members in our marketing, data analysis, content and school-facing teams. 

You’ll be line-managed by Unifrog’s Partnerships Director for International Schools and Higher Education.

About the role:

MAG is for looking for a highly motivated and dynamic and experienced governance professional who will contribute to the continuous development and growth of the organisation, to join the team as our Head of Governance. You will provide high-quality, strategic corporate governance advice and operational secretariat support to MAG’s Board of Trustees and Leadership Team to ensure that our governance arrangements are efficient and effective as well as comply with regulatory and internal requirements and sector best practice. As part of the role, you will lead a small team that provides Management Support services to staff working in MAG’s Manchester office, including office administration and travel management.

About you:

We are looking for an experienced governance professional, who has demonstrable experience of supporting and advising a Board of Trustees and its Executive, as our new Company Secretary. You will have experience of working with the Charity Commission and as a Data Protection Officer. Additionally, your ability to analyse and interpret complex data and present written and verbal information in a clear and concise manner is an essential aspect of this role.

You must be able to advise Boards and Executives comprehensively and succinctly on corporate governance matters and excel at building and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues across all levels of an organisation and key external stakeholders (e.g. regulators and external advisors). Experience of having worked for an international NGO or comparable organisation is ideal not essential.

We are looking for an experienced Business Development and Advisory Manager to join our committed team, who will hit the ground running.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• You will manage and grow Stronger Together’s business relations in a variety of sectors, both in the UK and globally to generate funding and drive impact. This includes taking the lead in developing project proposals for clients.

Who you are:

• The ideal candidate should have experience in a business development role, a track record in building and developing business relations, and strong experience of giving presentations, delivering pitches and closing deals.

• Experienced in maintaining and developing corporate sponsor relations including writing client and grant proposals.

The Start Network is made up of close to 100 aid agencies working across six continents. Together, our aim is to transform humanitarian action through innovation, fast funding, early action, and locally driven humanitarian action. We're tackling what we believe are the biggest systemic problems that the sector faces. Problems including slow and reactive funding, centralised decision-making, and an aversion to change mean that people affected by crises around the world do not receive the best help fast enough, and needless suffering results. The Start Network is at a critical point in its journey. We have grown and diversified our membership over the past 10 years. JOB PURPOSE

This senior management role will enable strategic thinking and design, influence diverse stakeholders, adapt agile ways of working and drive change in line with the vision of the Network.

You will enable the development of country and regional civil society hubs, driving decentralised decision-making, devolving power, and enabling local hub leaders to meet their needs defined and owned by them. You will work with the hubs and their members to understand their support needs, then facilitate and coordinate that support working with peer hubs and relevant members of the Start Network team expertise.

The role requires a good understanding of and experience in the humanitarian and/or development sectors, and an ability to work with local civil society. Awareness of power and political dynamics and sensitivity to different contexts and cultures is crucial. It also requires high levels of self-awareness and emotional intelligence, using your position connect, enable and influence others. You will be skilled at building relationships and brokering partnerships with empathy, credibility and equity. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design, development planning

• With members and hubs, co-design, develop and enable the evolution of Start Network of Networks, including hubs.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Country Director, the Head of Programmes will provide strategic programme direction, managerial and programme leadership, and oversight on all aspects of strategy development, programme development and management in water, sanitation and hygiene including significant component of public health programmes and projects. S/he is responsible for strategic programme leadership of programmes, programme design, management, quality assurance and partner support. S/he will provide an oversight of the quality of the programmes that reflect adherence to global and WaterAid standards and donor guidelines, while fostering innovation to improve effectiveness and impact ensuring the delivery and overall success of WaterAid's Country Programme Strategy (2023-2028). The role enhances WaterAid's existing portfolio of programmes and partnerships, working closely with Policy and Advocacy and diverse expertise to design and showcase WaterAid's service delivery models, and innovation with the aim of influencing for wider and transformational change in support of WaterAid's vision and strategy.

The Head of Programmes is a member of the Senior Management Team. S/he will have a strong professional relationship with the Regional Programme Manager, based in the Regional Team to ensure that global standards on programme quality, planning, monitoring, evaluation, and assurance are applied in country programme. At the Country Programme level, the Head of Programmes will have a strong professional relationship with the Head of Advocacy and Policy, Head of Funding, Head of Finance and Senior Programme staff.

Specifically, the Head of Programmes, will be responsible for the following amongst others:

• Provide strategic programme direction for the design of the Country Programme strategic frameworks and plans, including the development of resource mobilization strategies to optimize the impact of programme interventions in line with the Country Strategy and WaterAid's regional and global strategic priorities.
• Collaborate closely with the health sector to empower them to prioritise Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives and embed hygiene practices as fundamental pillars of public health.
• Lead the execution of WaterAid's programmatic approaches that include Systems Strengthening Approach, Gender transformative WASH, Hygiene Behavioural-Centred Approach and Design methodologies, and Human rights-based approach (HRBA) into all aspects of WASH programming and operations.
• Lead the development and execution of strategic plans for WASH programming, ensuring alignment with the organisation's goals and priorities.
• Integrate Climate Resilient WASH principles into project design and implementation strategies to enhance the resilience of WASH systems and infrastructure to climate change impacts approach into all aspects of our work.
• Provide technical guidance and capacity building support to staff and partners on systems strengthening principles, methodologies, and best practice.
• Lead high-quality project design incorporating project management standards and Programme Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (PMER) methods, appropriate to project scope, context, and technical needs. • At least 10 years of progressive managerial experience at senior levels, with strong relationship management skills. Ability to relate to people at all levels, both internally and externally.
• At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in strengthening elements of WASH systems with an understanding of WASH interaction with other systems such as health, climate change, education, and economic development.
• Experience of project and programme management and programme cycle management, with significant financial and budget management responsibility
• Proven experience of leading, developing and implementing a WASH strategy.
• Strategic and operational planning experience, experience in developing country and programme strategies and multi-sectoral development programmes.
• Experience in Developing project / programme proposals for raising resources from institutional donors.
• Experience of managing and building high performing team.

Since 1923, working through a series of global projects and partnerships across 23 low-income countries, it has supported the welfare of working donkeys, horses, camels, oxen and other working animals in communities that depend on them for water, transport, agriculture, and their very survival.

As part of the charity’s ambitious strategic development plans, they are recruiting a Head of Philanthropy and Fundraising Partnerships. In this role, you will pro-actively lead the development of their Philanthropy and Fundraising Partnerships team as it seeks to acquire new charity partnerships and high value donors and build on their existing funding base. You will be comfortable with using a wide range of fundraising and marketing channels to acquire new funders, as well as steward existing donors.

Your key responsibilities include:

Philanthropy and fundraising partnerships programme management

- Lead on the development and operational delivery of the philanthropy and fundraising partnerships strategy, encompassing work across the high-value donor, legacies, trusts, and corporate fundraising income streams.
- Lead on maintaining our clients relationships with existing high-value donors and funders, through the provision of exemplary stewardship.
- Drive the development and testing of new means of acquiring high-value donors and funders for them, to deliver sustainable growth.
- Oversee the continued development and growth of their global legacy programme, including the production of legacy mailings, telemarketing, offline and digital advertising, and features, as well as correspondence with supporters, solicitors, and other stakeholders.
- Lead on work to develop our forecasting of annual legacy income with our legacy pipeline.
- Drive the development of their corporate fundraising programme, working with Global Programmes colleagues and partners based in the countries where they work.
- Work with colleagues to ensure new funding opportunities for high-value donors and funders are identified and actively pursued.
- Work with colleagues to ensure restricted income is managed according to donors’ wishes and restricted funds are managed effectively across Global Fundraising, Marketing and Communications, Global Resources and Global Programmes.

Team management

- Develop and manage the Philanthropy and Fundraising Partnerships team’s activity plan and budget.
- Provide supportive and dynamic line management for members of the Philanthropy and Fundraising Partnerships team, including facilitating regular supervision meetings and supporting their personal development and training.
- Serve as a member of the Global Fundraising, Marketing and Communications Leadership Team.
- Keep up to date with the latest legislative and statutory developments relating to the role, advising staff and the Senior Leadership Team as appropriate.
- Uphold and promote their values, policies, and procedures across all work.

Your knowledge:

- Proven knowledge of fundraising and/or marketing.
- Excellent knowledge of high-value donor, trusts, corporate and legacy fundraising strategies, and activities.
- Comprehensive understanding of fundraising techniques, including audience and donor segmentation, analytical modelling, and the use of insight to drive performance.
- A strong knowledge of global animal welfare, within an international development context is desirable.
- Fundraising training and qualification are desirable.

Your experience:

- Demonstrable experience of managing fundraising or income-generating campaigns, nationally and internationally, including in coalition with other organisations, partners, and agencies/suppliers.
- Experience of managing and overseeing high value giving, legacies, trusts, statutory and corporate fundraising programmes, and activities, to maximise income.
- Experience of developing new products/activities and taking them to market.
- Experience of developing, building, and maintaining relationships with high-value stakeholders.
- Experience of line management and building a collaborative, high-performance team.
- Experience of representing organisations on consortia or in partnership activities (desirable).
- Experience working in a charity or not-for-profit environment is desirable.

The main purpose of this role is to grow the venue hire pipeline of business and deliver venue hire events and specialist group events to excellent standards ensuring repeat business and maximising new sales opportunities. You will also be highly organised with a keen eye for detail and confident being the ‘gatekeeper’ of the room bookings diary at the society. 

Overall responsibilities / requirements …

Venue Hire Sales & Marketing: 

• To deal with all venue sales enquiries in a timely and efficient manner. 
• To build and maintain an effective pipeline of venue hire enquiries. Including attending venue hire showcases and B2B networking events as necessary. 
• Professional and friendly manner, confident in delivering and leading on showrounds to prospective clients. 
• To produce venue hire literature and ensure that all material relating to the venue facilities is kept up to date. 
• To meet venue hire sales targets for 2024 as set by the Society and build effective sales pipelines for 2025.
• Liaise with Marketing Teams to produce bespoke posts and newsletters for members, venue hire leads and special offers for venue hire throughout the year, maximising engagement. 
• Support the Head of Events with all key cultivation events including venue hire showcases and any new business ventures. 

Venue Hire Administration: 

• To maintain safe working practices in conjunction with Health & Safety policies. 
• Work collaboratively with Buildings Manager to communicate key information taking place across Burlington House. 
• To liaise with AV company with regards to timings, payments, staff needs, training and use of equipment / set up for events. 
• To liaise with caterers with regards to timings, payments, staff attending, training and room set up for events.

World Child Cancer is seeking an experienced corporate and philanthropy fundraiser to join our growing team and play a vital role in improving the chances of survival and quality of life of children with cancer in under-resourced countries.

About World Child Cancer

Over 400,000 children worldwide develop cancer each year. Childhood cancer is most often curable, with over 80% survival rate in high income countries. However, in many low-and-middle-income countries survival rates are often 25% or lower.

World Child Cancer’s goal is to help redress that inequity and improve the chances of children with cancer to survive and thrive in under-resourced countries. We currently work with local hospitals in 12 countries in Africa, Asia and Mexico to enable children with cancer to have equal access to the best possible treatment and care through awareness raising on signs of childhood cancer, providing financial, logistical and emotional support to address barriers to access treatment, training of healthcare workers and advocacy.

Overview of the role

This newly created Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager role will play a key part in raising income from companies and philanthropists to help achieve World Child Cancer’s mission.

You will be passionate about enabling children with cancer to have equitable access to quality treatment wherever they are born. We are looking for someone experienced in corporate and philanthropy fundraising, who is proactive, confident in engaging with high value funders, able to develop strong internal and external relationships, has strong verbal and written communication skills, a collaborative way of working and experience in developing new business.
